Meet Dr. David Levy
Dr. Levy's path to dentistry is anything but ordinary, and that's exactly what makes him the kind of dentist patients don't forget. After studying International Relations and History in college, he spent a year teaching English in China before a conversation with a classmate sparked a new direction. He began shadowing dentists and quickly recognized what drew him in: the blend of hands-on skill, healthcare, and the opportunity to build real, lasting relationships with patients. He moved to New York City to complete his prerequisite coursework at NYU, interned at a cosmetic dental office in Manhattan, and went on to earn his DMD from Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, graduating summa cum laude.
Following dental school, Dr. Levy was commissioned into the U.S. Army and began his career with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in Colorado Springs. The AEGD program gave him a strong clinical foundation across a wide range of procedures, sharpening both his diagnostic eye and his technical skills before he ever stepped into private practice. That training, combined with six years of real-world experience, is what allows him to catch things that other providers sometimes miss, something patients mention again and again.
Dr. Levy then served 12 months in Egypt as part of a peacekeeping mission, where he was the senior dentist among a team of three, providing dental care in a demanding operational environment. Afterward, he spent three years at a large dental clinic at the Pentagon, where he finished his Army career. These experiences, caring for soldiers, leading teams, and working under pressure, reinforced his commitment to thoroughness, calm under any circumstance, and putting patients at ease no matter what they're facing.
After leaving the Army, Dr. Levy spent six months practicing private dentistry in Australia before returning to the United States with one goal in mind: owning a practice where he could do things the right way. That meant a place where patients are treated as individuals, where quality is never compromised, and where the team is genuinely invested in every person who walks through the door. That place is Elm City Dental Care.
In the operatory, Dr. Levy is known for his comprehensive exam approach, one that goes well beyond a standard checkup. Every new patient receives a thorough evaluation that includes an oral cancer screening, a full TMD exam, complete periodontal charting, and screenings for sleep apnea, airway concerns, orthodontic needs, and bruxism. He takes the time to sit patients up, take off his mask, and walk through every finding face-to-face, explaining what he sees, what's causing it, and what the options are. For larger treatment decisions, he typically presents one or two treatment paths alongside the option of no treatment, so patients always feel in control.
Outside the office, Dr. Levy spends his time with his wife, young son, and two Golden Retrievers, hiking, skiing, cooking, scuba diving, and traveling. He is also currently working toward earning his Private Pilot License. He brings that same curiosity and drive for growth to everything he does, including the practice he's building in Keene.

Honoring a commitment to serve
Service to the military community has been part of Dr. Levy’s path for many years. While attending Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, he completed an externship at the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he cared for veterans and developed a deeper understanding of the oral health needs many service members face. During that time, he also founded the Uniformed Services Student Dental Association, creating opportunities for fellow dental students to support veterans throughout the Boston community.
After graduation, Dr. Levy spent five years serving as an Army dentist, including time in a combat zone. That chapter of his career strengthened a connection to the military community that continues today. At Elm City Dental Care, he remains committed to caring for Veterans Affairs patients and giving veterans, service members, and military families a place where they feel genuinely welcomed, respected, and well cared for.
